Windsurfing versus Kiteboarding

Submitted by Simone on Fri, 11/23/2012 - 13:23

Two month vaction ahead in Asia which also includes 5 weeks of windsurfing at Simone's Funboard Center Boracay in the Philippines. I met Simone many years ago in Greece where I used to have a windsurfschool. As we both are passionate windsurfers we stayed in touch over the years and met on different spots just to get a good ride together.

You could call me a "soul windsurfer" and I was always arguing that kite boarding is nothing for me: no time, too much fun windsurfing, to lazy starting all over again....

Sad news for kitesurfing on Boracay

Submitted by Simone on Mon, 11/12/2012 - 06:17

One of the best entertainment and viewy sports in the world as kitesurfing has been removed from the Olympic programme for Rio 2016. What a shame too for all the windsurfers who spent the last year training to compete in kitesurfing. Boracay Island has also support local kiteboarders to make their biggest dream reality. A bitter blow for everybody involved...

The Philippines Windsurfing Association and NeilPryde, the RS One Class will be turning a dream into reality with the first RS:One World Championships to be held on Boracay, Philippines, from 10th to the 15th of December. Bulabog Beach, known as the mecca for windsurfing and kiteboarding in Asia, prides itself of playing all kinds of non-motorized watersports activities, particularly when the northeasterly winds or "Amihan" are blowing. The features of Bulabog Beach are perfect for windsurfing and kiteboarding because of the flat water, on/side shore wi
